Talk:Feature Wishlist/Hardware support
From openSUSE
I currently have a HP Deskjet 6840 printer. It is a full network printer which can be accessed either via wire or wireless network. Yast seems to have a problem accessing it and I have to configure it using the Cups Web interface. The current linux drivers for it looks for a parallel connection which is not available. It utilizes port 9100 on the current network to communicate. My laptop computer (windooze) can communicate with it and inform me when it is getting low on ink (as well as other configuration options). It is possible that if it did have a parallel connection, this would be available in Linux, I don't know. But, it is a full network connection which as of Suse 10.1 is not able maintain a 2-way conversation. I would like to see this capability in the near future?
