Refreshing the List of Packages

Everytime I start the software management tool, YaST refreshes the list of available packages from repositories. Since I have quite a few extra repositories, this takes a lot of time. I was wondering if there is some way by which it can be configured to

Automatically refresh the package list from all the repositories once a day
OR atleast, give me an option to NOT refresh when I start the software management module. Presently I have no other option BUT to wait for the refresh process to finish.
