New Action Items

The following action items should also now appear in Squeegee/Tasks.

  • Project Web space. Does Novell have sponsored project web space? Cameron will check on it.
  • Project Mailing List. Cameron will talk w/ the openSuse guys about a mailing list
  • Conference Call recordings. Who can plug conference call into Audacity, for example?
  • Reporting platform mock-ups. Dan and Cameron will put together screen shots for each reporting solution as it stands now for us to review
  • Hardware/System Requirements - should go on an action list.
  • Project logo: Randy and Max will pursue options.
  • Yast Developers: Max will pursue a couple of leads. Whole team needs to be on lookout for developers.

    • Dan will manage for us
    • Domain purchase and hosting? Debate on 1and1.com, godaddy, etc.
      • ACTION: Does Novell have sponsored project web space? Cameron will check on it.
    • Source code?
      • YaST source code - opensuse Yast svn repository so it lands in main tree. Squid module already there; we may be able to leverage.
  • Solution path?
    • eventually an appliance of sorts, but early work is on pieces: reporting, modules, etc.
    • out the door, it'll be an add-on to opensuse or SLES
      • Squeegee module for yast
      • reporting, maybe in same module
    • build service, Cameron has requested a separate account for squeegee, but they're waiting on more progress on our development path
  • Meetings
    • ACTION: Cameron has requested a Squeegee IRC channel from FreeNode. Waiting.
    • We'll continue w/ conference call format until we're larger (hope!) and IRC may be easier to use.
    • Future meetings to be topic-based (reporting, etc.)
    • Plan meetings every 3 weeks
    • Next meeting 2008-Aug-15 11:00 MDT
    • ACTION: Anyone else who can figure out how to plug conference call into Audacity, for example?
  • Wiki page
    • Max will take ownership of maintaining wiki
  • Reports
    • Dan and Cameron were working on 2 different paths: Sarg, dglog.pl script etc
    • Target a couple of simple, canned reports.
    • ACTION: Dan and Cameron will put together screen shots for each reporting solution as it stands now for us to review
  • Scaling? Hardware requirements?
    • Appliance hardware? = long term
    • ACTION: Requirements - should go on an action list.
  • Scope
    • Cameron would like initial focus to be on a household solution, putting the solution into public bulid channels for consumption by any other project
  • Squeegee logo?
    • ACTION: Randy Goddard offered
    • ACTION: Max has a contact who may be able to contribute a logo
    • Format? = YaST friendly and web-site friendly (multiple versions).
    • Concept? = Camelion with squeegee in tail? LOL
    • Concept? = Tango theme (from gnome), simple, clean look and feel
    • Concept? = KDE Plasma look and feel
