My Testdrive displays a timeout error, what can I do?

We're trying to figure out why a few people are getting this timeout error. We think that certain proxies or firewalls may be getting in the way.

When you get a connection time out error; it's just displaying a warning. Testdrive is still either trying to connect in the background (and in some cases, it may still connect, even after displaying the timeout) or there really was a connection error.

For Testdrive to successfully work, you need access to the following ports:

  • 80 (Web, HTTP)
  • 843 (Flash)
  • 5900 - 5908 (VNC)

You could try the following:

  1. First wait for a while after getting the "timeout" error message. It may still work.
  2. If you are using a firewall or proxy, and have access to change it, try to add the ports listed above to the accepted list.

Please inform us of the any (or all) of the following through the feedback link in Studio, or in IRC (#susestudio on irc.freenode.net):

  1. If you aren't going through a firewall, proxy, or VPN (or don't know)
  2. Your browser (and version) and version of Flash, as well as operating system
  3. Your connection speed (roughly)
  4. If you waited for a while after the timeout and it did in fact work (or did not), and approximately how long you had to wait (if it did eventually work)
