SDB Discussion:Wireless in 10.1

Installation of a 3Com wireless PC-card under SUSE 10.1 on a Dell Latitude L400 Laptop.

I tried to follow the SUSE instructions on the madwifi pages. It is recommended for 10.1 to create a repository and install directly from there. However, if someone is trying to install a wifi card chances are that the machine does not have an internet connection until that very card is working. Thus for many people, especially newbies like me, that recommendation might be misleading.

Anyway, I used the following http://linux.wordpress.com/2006/05/21/suse-101-and-atheros-based-wifi-cards/ instructions which were very helpful and lead to a a working wireless card (the LED's don't work though, i.e. there is no green lights but the card works).
