SDB:XDM Is Used as Login Manager Following Update from 9.2 to 9.3

Symptom

Following an update from SUSE LINUX 9.2 to 9.3, you can only log in over XDM, not over the KDM login manager.

Solution

Proceed as follows to change the login manager:

  1. Start YaST2.
  2. Go to "System" -> "/etc/sysconfig Editor".
  3. Open "Desktop" -> "Display manager" -> "DISPLAYMANAGER" and change the entry to the desired login manager (gdm, xdm, kdm).
  4. Click "Finish".
