SDB:Vertical lines
From openSUSE
Symptom:
You have finished the configuration of your graphics card, but the graphical user interface is interfered by repeating vertical lines shading the screen. Thereby the screen looks washy and the letters seem to be of different sizes. This behaviour apparently appears with certain LC displays or certain graphics cards.
Procedure:
Using SaX2 you have got the possibility to avoid this. Start SaX2 with th following option :
sax2 -f
(If problems occur please have a look in the extensive documentation to SaX2. E.g. in the SuSE Linux manual, page 250, chapter 8.3.
Change the settings for the algorithm to "iterate precisely" in "desktop/properties/expert". Afterwards please do a server test. Please do not change the screen geometry but choose "auto adjust" for your monitor if possible. The monitor now tries to justify the screen.
If the monitor doesn't have an auto adjustment function, you have to adjust manually afterwards if applicable.
Save the configuration and exit SaX2. Afterwards please start the graphical user interface anew.
