SETTING-UP REMOTE DESKTOP
This is a Quick How-to for setting up a remote desktop connection by remote desktop I am talking about having one Computer take control over another on the same network and be able to execute commands and access files.
First thing to check is weather you are able to ping the machine that you want to access so go to a terminal and log-in
as root by typing su and entering your password, Then try to check your IP-address by typing ifconfig and you should get a screen that looks like this: Terminal Window
There are a few things that you should be looking for on this screen first notice the host name-Linux-r7dj with IP-address 10.219.40.15 If we go to the target computer which is 10.219.40.5 by pinging and get an answer then we know that the computers can talk to each other The fastest way that I have found to add a route is by typing ssh root@ and the IP-address that you want to add as a tunnel for both computers to be able to talk all you need is the password of the machine you want access too. After entering the password you can see the host-name has changed to Linux-n9dp with IP-address 10.219.40.5. The two programs that I used for this are: Krfb desktop connection and Krdc desktop sharing.
The screens above starting at number one are the screens that you will be presented with when you start the Krfb-desktop sharing program the first button to press is the configure button at the bottom of the screen this will open up screen two notice the three tabs on the top just check to make sure Announce service on the Network in window two is checked after this you can click on apply and OK.
Screen (4)-Next step is to create your invitation for the machine that you want to give access to. Do this by clicking on Create personal invitation from the first screen or by clicking on Create and Manage invitation's from the second screen. When you have selected to create an invitation you will be presented with screen four. Notice the Host IP-address and the colon with the zero. And also take note of the password which you will be asked for when you want to connect. After obtaining the information required you can try and connect to the machine by using Krdc remote desktop connection.
This picture is taken from the machine that wants access to IP-10.219.40.15 so we start Krdc remote desktop connection and enter the information that
we were given in screen four namely Host and password

Screen (6)-
and click on connect once you click on connect the target machine will get a message stating that another machine is trying to access it and
This is picture Seven Screen that will open up on the target machine Notice the IP-address and you can check the box Allow remote user to control keyboard and mouse.
Screen (7)-
After you click on Accept Connection the desktop should be transferred from IP-address 10.219.40.15 to IP-address 10.219.40.5 the last picture is the one were you can see both
desktops on the one computer:
