SDB:SATA Hard Drive Not Found on Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo E Computer
From openSUSE
Situation
You need to install OpenSUSE Linux on your computer with SATA hard drive. Each time the installation gets to hardware detection phase you get the annoying „Hard drive not found error“ message. You have applied different boot and installation options and none of them seem to work.
Prozedur
This solution will mean you will have to reinstall Windows after you have made the changes suggested below, because the IDE driver which windows has in it's driver database will be changed to Raid driver which can be installed only during Windows installation. If you do not have the orginal Windows CD for the reinstall, you are advised to discontinue.
1.Enter the BIOS Setup program by pressing the F2/Delete key (depending on you BIOS)
2.In your BIOS change the SATA Controller mode from IDE to RAID and save the settings.
3.Start Windows installation and press F6 during the driver installation phase to install the RAID driver.
4.After the successfull installation of Windows, start the OpenSUSE installation and your hard drive will be detected.
