SDB:Problems with initial installation screen

From openSUSE

Situation

You are trying to boot from CD/DVD, but as the result you are getting black screen (before making any selection) or you experience any other problems with initial grub screen (i.e. you cannot navigate in this menu).

Procedure

Try to boot with holding down "Left SHIFT" key. It means at the time of reading your bootable CD/DVD you have to hold down the key. Some BIOS versions don't accept any key down when they start, you may see errors from BIOS. It is suggested to hold down this key just after you will notice some messages from your BIOS.

As the result you should get a question: "Load boot graphics?". Just press 'n' key.

On next screen you should see different possibilities of next step. As 'boot :' type the one you want to start and hit 'Enter' key, For example for standard installation just type "linux" and hit 'Enter' key.
