SDB:Epson scanner perfection 2580 configuration
From openSUSE
Situation
We have an Epson Perfection scaner but is not working at all. The scanner led is on but we dont get any signal from it. Also when we run an application like xsane or kooka it says that no device had been found.
Solution
First of all like with all the hardware we want to install we should turn on the scaner and check all the connections are made in the right way. If our scanner is USB 2.0 we must connect it to this port.
We can find a suitable driver for this scanner in YaST, querying for epson in the text field. We should select:
1) The firmware that we will upload to the scanner
2) The proprietary drivers.
Then lets configure the scaner like this:
YaST -> Hardware -> Scaner
Ok, probably YaST have found something but in the driver field we can see that is not configured. Lets select it in the list, the one which requieres the firmware uploading. After the configuration the scaner will produce some sounds.
