SDB:DVD movies under Linux
From openSUSE
Version: 7.0 - 8.2
[edit]
Symptom:
You would like to watch movies with the DVD-Player.
[edit]
Cause:
Most DVD movies use a copy protection scheme (CSS) and currently there's no legal way to decode the data under linux with an open source program.
[edit]
Solution:
Some ISVs are working on a commercial software for linux. Please take a look at:
- http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/LinDVD.jsp
A few DVD movies are not protected by CSS, so you can to watch them under Linux.
A good place to find the needed tools is: http://freshmeat.net.
Search
for the keyword dvd.
And, last and least, a few websites which offer further information on video & Linux.
Please note that DVD video is not supported by our free installation support.
