SDB:Collecting Information on X11 Problems

Situation
The SuSE Advanced Support Service has asked you to send some particular information regarding your problem.
Procedure
If your configuration attempt with SaX or SaX2 has failed, please send us the following log files:
In case of configuration with Sax2 (XFree86 4.x.x):
/var/log/SaX.log /var/log/XFree86.0.log
If available, please also send
/etc/X11/XF86Config
In case of configuration with Sax (XFree86 3.x.x):
/var/log/StartLog /var/log/ServerLog
If available, please also send
/etc/XF86Config
Furthermore, it is helpful to get an overview of your hardware. Please, also add the output of the following commands to your e-mail:
/sbin/lspci -n
/sbin/lspci -vv
and
sax2 -p
procinfo
You can redirect these commands to a file with
sax2 -p > /tmp/info.txt procinfo >> /tmp/info.txt /sbin/lspci -n >> /tmp/info.txt /sbin/lspci -vv >> /tmp/info.txt
and then copy the file on a floppy disk with
mcopy /tmp/info.txt a:
These files can be mailed with any operating system.
Please also include accurate information on your monitor in the e-mail:
- Manufacturer
- Type/Model
- Horizontal and vertical frequency range (this information can be found in your monitor manual under Technical Information).
In this way you have created the file /tmp/info.txt erstellt. This file contains the information on your X11 configuration. Please send the contents of this text file in ASCII format to support@suse.de. Do not use any encoded attachments! Please enclose your registration code. Wait for the confirmation that your e-mail has been received, then call the SuSE Advanced Support Service for X11 difficulties.
