Usenet (Newsgroups)

Usenet-ul operează într-o manieră asemănătoare cu o listă de mail. Este constituit din grupuri de ştiri la care trebuie să te înscrii folosind oaplicaţie newsgroup de citire, ca de exemplu KNode.

Trebuie să te conectezi la un Server Usenet şi aplicaţia de citire pe care o ai va extrage lista de grupuri. Selectezi grupurile pe care vrei să le citeşti (aşa numită subscriere) şi eşti gata. Cei mai mulţi Provideri de Internet (ISP) au un server de Usenet şi îţi vor oferi mai multe informaţii despre cum să configurezi un client de citire pentru Usenet.

Usenet este de asemenea accesibil prin site-uri Web, dar serviciul lor ar putea fi adesea limitat şi subiectul unor costuri adiţionale. Cele mai populare servicii de acest gen sunt Grupurile Google, care merg excelent ca şi motor de cautare, însa nu poţi publica în toate grupurile de ştiri şi unele comunităţi nu sunt de acord cu aspectul mesajelor publicate prin interfaţa web (de exemplu alt.os.linux.suse).
