1) Overview
The openSUSE Weekly Newsletter is a collection of articles/posts/status-mails and reflects the activity of the openSUSE community. Out goal is to keep people informed about different areas of the project. The main Newsletter is done in English and translated to atm 7 other languages. Local content can/should be added where applicable. Authors/Translators should have signed the Projects Guiding Principles. Most communication happens on the opensuse-marketing mainlinglist. To join this list, just send an email to: [1] A short introduction of yourself is appreciated but not mandatory.
2) Wiki-Editing
The Newsletter is written into the openSUSE.org's wiki-system. Its a Mediawiki and the Syntax can be learned from wikipedia's editing rules: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_edit To be able to write to openSUSE.org's wiki, you need to have/register for a novell-account. If you would like to place Links, you can use: OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Dashboard
3) Newsletter
The Weekly Newsletter is being drafted allover the week on the future issue's page like so: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/52
That's the next issue's page, but basically: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/XX Where XX is +1 from the last published issue number.
If you have a wiki account, you can just edit it directly. Put in a link/short note or an prepared article. All submissions are welcome - we're not google, so we don't notice all interesting stuff ;) .

We've created a tool to make translating a bit easier: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Translations#Translation_tool The tool is able to import the raw English newsletter code and translate predefined strings (e.g. headings or static content) into the desired language. The strings are prepared in a simple .ini-File. Sebastian Schöbinger, an Teammember, has created an GUI based Tool for the Editing and Translation Process. He adds the Link soon.
6) Checklist
The Project Checklist can be visited under: Checklist
7) First steps
You could grab the Newsletter template (see http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/Translations) and start creating an localized template. Next step could be the .ini-File for the Translation-tool. This can easily be done if you compair the English template with your newly created localized template. Then you can grab the latest released issue and start translating.
-> HAVE FUN !
