CUEgen FLAC-compatible cuesheet generator GPL Users performing CD archiving The FLAC format allows cuesheets to be embedded in .flac files by storing their data in the CUESHEET metadata block. The cuesheet itself is simply a description of the contents of an audio CD. The cuesheet can be used in conjunction with a .flac file to store a complete album in a single FLAC file and then retrieve individual tracks from that file. The cuesheet may also be used by CD burning applications to recreate an identical copy of an original audio CD from its FLAC representation and an associated cuesheet. As such, cuesheets are of great use in archiving, transporting and burning FLAC-encoded audio files.

Jahshaka Free cross-platform NLE for Post-Production video editing. GNU / GPL Studios and Freelancers Jahshaka supports a large number of multimedia formats for broadcast, film and commercial work. Focus is centralized on use of open studio standards such as it's use of OpenEXR. The software is supported on Linux, Windows and OSX. The project is working to combine features commonly found in highend commercial NLE such as Autodesk Smoke and Apple FCP. Reference: http://www.jahshaka.org and http://www.jahshaka.net/ as of April 2 2008, jahshaka devs said V2 is no more supported (and don't compile on 10.3) and V3 wont be ready before a long time.
k3b-mad mad-support users GPL In 9.3 one got a dependency error when installing the package. So that should not be an issue with 10.x either, especially if one only supplies it via the supplementary-dir. Users who have the latter as installation source will have the other needed as well, in order to meet the dependency. Although there might be no other way: Mp3 is so annoying since 9.3!
KDEnlive Free non-linear video editor GNU / GPL digitalchameleon A professional non-linear digital video editor. (should be of broadcast quality)

is already available at packman

Kiso KIso is a GUI for KDE 3 which has the purpose to make creating, extracting and editing of ISO-Images as easy as possible. GPL users Very needed app for linux in my oppinion.

Kitty Podcast/Vidcast KDE 3 supporting most formats that kaffeine and MPlayer can handle GPL users There is a severe lack of Video Podcast capable software on SUSE Linux at the moment.

Alternate DVB app for the integrated media players (like kaffeine or xine).

It can also use gstreamer or xine as backend - Andreas Simon

KPlayer An excellent KDE media player and library. Great for playing local and remote files, streams, DVD, VCD, audio CD, TV and DVB. Moodbar Visual audio file analysis GPL users Moodbar is a small fingerprint generating app for audio files which creates a visual representation of a track's 'mood'. This package might be especially interesting for amarok users, which as of 1.4.3 fully supports it. However, as it does not depend on amarok, other players might want to include this feature. The website contains screenshots of moodbar in amarok.
MythTV-Frontend Front-end for the mythtv PVR GPL Quentin Jackson MythTV is a GPL licensed suite of programs that allow you to build the mythical home media convergence box on your own using Open Source software and operating systems. Including the front end portion of MythTV in Suse would allow watching of Live TV/pre-recordedCable/Sat or otherwise over the wired/wireless network. Really cool when you don't have tv wired into other rooms of your house.
Nero Linux 3 Nero Linux is a flexible application, which supports all

important features of Nero Burning ROM on Linux Systems.

NON OSS Users We would like to see Nero Linux in non OSS repo.
NMM NETWORK-INTEGRATED MULTIMEDIA MIDDLEWARE GPL / LGPL users yet another MM-engine, but i think it has quite a great potential.
normalize normalizes audio levels GPL users of k3b A program that normalizes the volume of audio files. Works with wav and mp3, but mp3-support is done by an external library, so there should be no problem to compile it without mp3-support. Is used by k3b to normalize volume when burning audio cd's, so having it in opensuse would be very nice.
p0rn-comfort p0rn-comfort consists of several support programs for browsing image-gallery sites. It includes a proxy which enables blacklisting of thumbnail sites on-the-fly. Proxy registration can also be automated. It also supports queueing of entire pages for download and fetching them at a later time. GPL Users There's no such a tool supplied by openSUSE, so it would be very nice if you package it for us.
PicardQT Tagging audio files GPL users Tagging of audio files such as MP3s, using the MusicBrainz database. Replaces the old GTK version of Picard. Alpha versions are already working better and more stable than the old GTK. Needed badly as dependencies make this a difficult program to compile on OpenSUSE.

is already available at the buildservice

TVBrowser TV-List GPL User TV-Browser
  • is an Electronic Program Guide (also known as an EPG). That means, it downloads the latest, up-to-date information about television programs from the internet and displays the information in a clear, understandable way - similar to the way that a standard paper TV Guide works. Your internet connection is only in use while downloading information about new programs.
  • downloads information for more than 140 different broadcasters and this number is not limited. You can even supply data for other channels not currently offered by TV-Browser which other users can then share.
  • is totally free. It costs nothing to download the program or the information about TV programs. TV-Browser is not made for financial gain - we just enjoy working on this project in our freetime. TV-Browser also contains no banner advertising or hidden software. We are really not trying to make any money out of this!
  • is Open Source software. If you're not convinced that TV-Browser contains no hidden software such as spyware, backdoors or viruses - download the sourcecode and see for yourself!
  • is platform independant - it runs on any system for which there is a Java-Runtime environment. This is the case for most modern desktop systems whether Windows, Linux, MacOS or many other systems. All you need is the latest Java runtime environment.
  • is fully configurable. There are skins and icons that allow you to change the appearance of TV-Browser to suit your desktop. As well as this, you can add extra functionality to TV-Browser in the form of downloadable plugins a detailled list of which can be found 1.

You can see The TV Programm of the day or week --Zunami 11:07, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

XaraLX The Powerful Vector Drawing Application GPL users This is the best and the fastest vector drawing application.

Linux needs a top-tier commercial-standard graphics program. The Linux desktop has come on leaps and bounds in the last year or so but it still lacks a vector or general purpose graphics program that truly competes with the best programs for the Mac or Windows. We intend to change that.

Xara X has been a commercial shipping Windows product for 10 years (and non-Windows versions go back before that). It's a modern, object orientated design that's highly stable, and has gained hundreds of thousands of users. Our users and customers have produced artwork that is as impressive, if not more impressive, than that produced from any other vector graphics program... home:jnweiger/XaraLX

Not completly GPL. The used graphic library is proprietary. However there is an intent to replace this library with cairo. [1]
