Status Buildservice

19:07:52 <henne> okay next topic then: Status Buildservice 19:07:55 <henne> adrianS? 19:08:04 <adrianS> k, we do focus atm on the end-user interface 19:08:38 <adrianS> that means a replacement for the nasty software.opensuse.org interface, where you can easily search and install software 19:08:52 <adrianS> also integrated with upcoming openSUSE 10.3 distro 19:09:00 <adrianS> bauersman: do you want to add something ? 19:09:36 <adrianS> We will also support .ymp files for benjiman's yast2-mpp module, for one click installations 19:09:38 * henne shakes bauersman 19:09:55 <adrianS> a side effect of this is that we do consolidate the redirectors 19:10:14 <adrianS> download.o.o will take over all redirection jobs from software.o.o 19:10:33 <adrianS> but software.o.o redirections will not break ... 19:10:45 * Nix wonders when the javascript autoscroll bug will will be fixed in the build service logs 19:10:49 <adrianS> another side effect is that it is possible already to upload pattern files 19:11:08 <adrianS> these will be used to create .ymp files, because every target repo needs to have different .ymp files 19:11:26 <adrianS> the interface is there already, but the patterns do not get validated yet 19:11:38 <adrianS> we will write an announcement for that when the validation is in place 19:11:41 <cooloTiger> hi 19:11:54 <henne> adrianS: does that mean we switch to yast-src instead of rpm-md? 19:11:54 <adrianS> I think that's it from the OBS side, any questions ? 19:12:17 <adrianS> henne: that should be independend from the format 19:12:33 <adrianS> at least 10.3 yast will support also patterns in yum repos 19:12:44 <henne> ah okay 19:13:00 <adrianS> and we can put the patterns resolved in .ymp files, if we have problems with yum repos on older distros 19:13:32 <henne> any other questions regarding the BS? 19:14:11 * Nix wonders when the javascript autoscroll bug will will be fixed in the build service logs 19:14:44 <AJaeger> Nix: Is there a bug in bugzilla for your most favourite bug? 19:14:48 <adrianS> Nix: feel free to ping in bugzilla, but it is a minor issue atm 19:14:53 <Nix> ok 19:15:10 <adrianS> the end user interface has the highest prio atm ;) 19:15:24 <Nix> sure 19:15:44 <adrianS> Nix: you could help via creating a test case for it ;) 19:16:05 <adrianS> so dirk can look if it is a problem in khtml or broken javascript code ... 19:16:10 <adrianS> s,khtml, kjs, 19:16:26 <cooloTiger> no, khtml was correct 19:16:26 <Nix> same bug appears in firefox... 19:16:39 <adrianS> oh, than we speak about a different bug ... 19:16:56 <adrianS> Nix: let's follow up via bugzilla on that 19:16:59 <Nix> ok 19:17:23 <henne> now that we made Nix happy... 19:17:38 <henne> any other questions or can we continue to the next topic? 8) 19:18:34 <henne> i take that as a yes

Status Distribution

19:18:58 <henne> so finaly Status Distribution 19:19:01 <henne> cooloTiger? 19:19:25 <cooloTiger> well, alpha6 is about to be mastered 19:19:40 <cooloTiger> we have a DVD5 for x86_64, i586 and ppc 19:19:59 <cooloTiger> and a KDE CD for i586 and x86_64 19:20:34 <cooloTiger> and GNOME CD is currently tested, can't confirm this 19:21:00 <cooloTiger> GNOME 2.19 updates broke GNOME panel and some other parts it seems 19:21:09 <cooloTiger> unfortunately GNOME team is on GUADEC, so no fix this week 19:21:33 <cooloTiger> we'll have to clearify how to continue there later - no shipment blocker for alpha6 though as it was to be expected 19:21:37 <cooloTiger> (not as worse perhaps) 19:21:39 * AJaeger thinks the GNOME folks consider themself fortunate to be at GUADEC ;-) 19:22:06 <cooloTiger> AJaeger: you've ever been to one? Horribly boring... :) 19:22:22 <_Marcus_> they now have epiphany with ... webkit ;) 19:22:32 <cooloTiger> anyway, the hottest topic for factory/Alpha6 is the integration of the libzypp refactoring 19:22:41 <cooloTiger> not everything has been ported and not everything works smoothly 19:23:13 <cooloTiger> there are 4 critical problems known with it and zypper needs a bit more care when using, but that is ok for an alpha 19:23:24 <AJaeger> And that's what I meant with "hard nuts to crack" when I announced today Coolo as project manager for openSUSE! 19:24:11 <cooloTiger> GNOME being broken was news to me, the rest I already added as annoying bugs 19:24:41 <cooloTiger> network setup is still W.I.P as with earlier alphas, but I managed to get network with Networkmanager just fine 19:25:02 <cooloTiger> any questions, concerns? 19:25:06 <Beineri> cooloTiger: what about the 5 CDs set? :-) 19:25:22 <cooloTiger> Beineri: I listed what we have 19:25:28 <cooloTiger> we have no 5 CDs set 19:25:50 <adrianS> for the first time and we look if it get's really missed ... 19:25:57 <Beineri> accidentally or by intention would be the next qwuestion :-) 19:26:06 * Nix wonders about the Xorg updates (from months ago) which broke the intel video driver... when are they planned to be fixed? 19:26:23 <henne> Nix: bug? 19:26:23 <adrianS> because we could safe a lot time in our build team and we reduce mirror bandwidth 19:27:01 <adrianS> would anyone here really miss the 5 CD set, if the 1 CD will work out ? 19:27:07 * cooloTiger notes that he's not registered, so private messages get no reply 19:27:35 <Nix> henne: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=289445 and https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=270846 19:27:36 <cooloTiger> adrianS: besides Beineri loosing his favorite test object? 19:27:37 <bugbot> suse bug 289445 in openSUSE 10.3 (SaX2) "Intel 855 GM "Dual Head" support greyed out in SaX2" [Normal,Resolved: duplicate] 19:27:47 * henne notes that no one should do a ctcp version on cooloTiger 19:28:52 <adrianS> any questions regarding the distro ? 19:28:57 <cooloTiger> Nix: matthias returned from vacation end of last week and this is high on his agenda. Dual head in general 19:29:05 <michl19> no answer means no one will miss the 5 CDs, yes? 19:29:11 <Nix> cooloTiger: ok. thanks for the update.. 19:29:15 <henne> Nix: WIP. matthias is back 19:29:18 <AJaeger> michl: None in this round ;-) 19:29:33 * Nix was just wondering when he would be able to do openoffice presentations for customers again :-D 19:29:55 <henne> okay anything else regarding the distribution? 19:30:03 <cooloTiger> Nix: general suggestion - don't rely on alpha releases for customer support 19:30:29 <Nix> cooloTiger: yeah. Thats a good suggestion, but if I didnt, then I would never have time for testing... 19:30:35 <adrianS> cooloTiger: your job is to encourage more people to use Factory, not vice versa ;) 19:31:20 * Nix grins 19:31:21 <henne> so no more questions for cooloTiger 19:31:21 <cooloTiger> no-one told me 19:31:32 <henne> unwissenheit schützt vor strafe nicht 19:31:43 <henne> next topic? 19:32:23 <henne> here we go...
