18:03 @<henne> Welcome to the openSUSE Status Meeting!
18:03 @<henne> This meeting is meant to discuss the latest developments in and around openSUSE.
18:03 @<henne> The topics of this meeting are:
18:04 @<henne> # 1.1 Status
18:04 @<henne> * 1.1.1 10.2 * 1.1.2 wiki * 1.1.3 build service
18:04 @<henne> Q&A
18:04 @<henne> anything else?
18:05 @<henne> okay. then lets go
18:05 @<henne> Status 10.2
18:05 @<henne> adrianL?
18:05 <adrianL> hi
18:05 <adrianL> The
18:05 <adrianL> iso files are on the mirrors, ftp trees are going out atm.
18:05 <adrianL> the debug packages will go out next week.
18:05 <adrianL> I hope to be able to do the release to do tomorrow at 13:00 CET
18:06 <adrianL> As announced on -factory list, we do have opened up the Factory distro for development again
18:06 <adrianL> but we will not sync factory out, until 10.2 reached all mirrors
18:06 <adrianL> We do still look for strong bittorrent seeders
18:06 <adrianL> If you are one, please write me a mail :)
18:06 <adrianL> adrian@suse.de
18:07 <adrianL> And I am told that the production of the hardware version did already start :)
18:07 <adrianL> I think that's it for now
18:07 @<henne> any questions regarding 10.2?
18:07 <GNAM> how many bugs in the packet manager?
18:07 <cb400f> ETA for LiveDVD?
18:08 <adrianL> GNAM: you can look up it yourself in bugzilla ;)
18:08 <Tsuroerusu> There's some bugs in the PPC version of 10.2 that prevents sound from working on Macs, will a patched be issued for this?
18:08 <GNAM> auau ok
18:08 <dead_rose> where can we get DVD9 iso from the boxed version ?
18:08 <adrianL> but it is really good usable, compared to 10.1
18:08 @<henne> Tsuroerusu: did you report it?
18:08 <Tsuroerusu> henne: It has already been reported several times
18:08 @<henne> dead_rose: inside the box :)
18:08 <adrianL> cb400f: good question, it should be ready, but I have to ask tomorrow ....
18:08 @<henne> Tsuroerusu: then follow these bugs and get your answer there :)
18:09 <Tsuroerusu> henne: No fix got into the Goldmaster, plus I havn't found a solution in the Bugzilla yet
18:09 <cb400f> adrianL: ok
18:09 <dead_rose> henne, the box will arrive in romania maybe in may
18:09 <dead_rose> henne, the reselling channel really sux in here
18:09 <adrianL> dead_rose: we do not put out files larger than 4GB, because of all the trouble with mirrors which do not support it and download clients which can't handle it
18:09 @<henne> Tsuroerusu: as soon as we find solutions for serve bugs like that we publish an online update. as usual
18:09 <adrianL> dead_rose: but there is really nothing on it, what is not part of the DVD5s
18:09 <dead_rose> adrianL, maybe just on ftp.opensuse.org
18:10 <Tsuroerusu> henne: Sounds good, looking forward to being able to listen to my music on my nice speakers again. ;)
18:10 <dead_rose> w/o mirror replication
18:10 <adrianL> dead_rose: that one is not strong enough ....
18:10 <Beineri> adrianL: sorry, but there is.
18:10 <dead_rose> adrianL, ok :-)
18:10 <adrianL> dead_rose: in future, it should be possible to create it yourself at home easily ;)
18:10 <adrianL> Beineri: what ?
18:11 <adrianL> Beineri: ah, right, the DVD9 does also contain the binary only stuff ...
18:11 <Beineri> adrianL: additional translation and packages (like yakuake, basket, qtcurve-kde, ...). but there is nothing on it that is not also available onj ftp
18:11 <dead_rose> the 32 bit x86 iso is containing also add-ons ?
18:11 <adrianL> Beineri: right
18:11 <adrianL> dead_rose: no, but there is an extra iso file for it
18:11 <dead_rose> for those binnaries I asked
18:12 <adrianL> dead_rose: everythign what we are allowed to hand out, is on our ftp server ....
18:12 <adrianL> some stuff is not part of the non-oss ftp tree, but they are part of the add-on iso
18:12 <adrianL> for legal issues
18:12 @<henne> anything else regarding 10.2?
18:12 <dead_rose> adrianL, I understand that ... seems to be ok ... I get 10.2 from iso's but also I will buy the box when available
18:13 @<henne> no more questions?
18:13 @<henne> okay
18:13 @<henne> next topic
18:13 @<henne> * Status Wiki
18:13 @<henne> notlocalhorst?
18:13 <notlocalhorst> wiki: it would be nice if some users from outside check and correct pages in
18:13 <notlocalhorst> the wiki where we still have the "SUSE Linux" string, instead of "openSUSE".
18:13 <notlocalhorst> Frank wrote a mail on opensuse-wiki to explain what changes are necessary.
18:14 <notlocalhorst> hugo had a question on the wiki, we will fix this soon
18:15 @<henne> any questions regarding the wiki?
18:15 <notlocalhorst> sorry for the delay ... other questions?
18:15 @<henne> okay
18:15 @<henne> next topic
18:15 @<henne> * Status BuildService
18:16 @<henne> adrianL? bauersman?
18:16 <adrianL> 10.2 is active in build service, some smaller open
18:16 <adrianL> bauersman: can you tell something about the webfrontend ?
18:16 <adrianL> or dragotin ?
18:16 * adrianL has just another call in parallel ...
18:16 <dragotin> yes
18:16 <bauersman> we updated the webclient this week
18:16 <dragotin> ok - bauersman :-)
18:17 <bauersman> the changes can be read at the news page on opensuse.org
18:17 <dragotin> a bunch of eyecandy ajax stuff :-)
18:17 <dragotin> and annoying bugs fixed.
18:18 <bauersman> that's it in general
18:18 @<henne> any questions regarding the buildservice?
18:18 <dead_rose> most annoying 10.2 bugs ?
18:18 * dead_rose offtopic ... sowwy
18:19 @<henne> hm okay. next topic?
18:19 @<henne> * Q/A
18:19 @<henne> question from Ted Bullock
18:19 @<henne> Will the ifolder server be available as a package in the 10.3 release or will it remain as an external package?
18:19 @<henne> anyone?
18:20 @<henne> i guess he has to ask that on factory so AJ can pick it up
18:20 @<henne> question from Keith Goggin
18:20 @<henne> A post-release debriefing session might be useful. Project managers report back on what worked well, what didn't and testers offering their insights.
18:20 @<henne> again something for AJ on opensuse-project i think
18:20 <adrianL> henne: yes
18:20 @<henne> okay
18:21 @<henne> question from Dominique Leuenberger
18:21 @<henne> There are still plenty of bugreports open for 10.2 (which is normal). Shall the reporters reassign them to 10.3 in case of non critical reports, that are anyhow unlikely to be fixed on a released 10.2 product?
18:21 <adrianL> henne: problem is that it will not happen this year than :/
18:21 @<henne> adrianL: does not hurt very much or?
18:21 @<henne> lets see if someone on the mailinglist wants that too
18:22 @<henne> regarding the question from Dominique
18:23 @<henne> as there is no 10.3 yet you cant re-assign the bugs to it because you cant know if its still there...
18:23 <adrianL> henne: i can try to take care of it#
18:23 <bgerber> When will a 10.3 bugzilla be created?
18:23 @<henne> of what?
18:24 <adrianL> henne: write me mail to remind me please
18:24 <Beineri> bgerber: 10.3 already exists in Bugzilla...
18:24 <adrianL> 10.3 bugzilla
18:24 @<henne> i did not mean the 10.3 bugzilla product
18:24 @<henne> there is no 10.3 yet
18:24 @<henne> so it cant have buigs :)
18:24 <dead_rose> so ... what are the most annoying 10.2 bugs ?
18:24 <aka_druid_> the bugzilla product does exist
18:24 @<henne> just wait and recheck against factory
18:24 @<henne> in a month or so. once real development happend there
18:25 <erikja> erikja ?
18:25 @<henne> dead_rose: there is the page for RC1
18:25 @<henne> dead_rose: we have to update it i guess
18:26 @<henne> notlocalhorst who will do that?
18:26 @<henne> cthiel?
18:26 @<henne> anyone?
18:27 <erikja> is ax25 with in 10.2?
18:27 @<henne> notlocalhorst!
18:27 <notlocalhorst> what?
18:28 @<henne> notlocalhorst: who will update the Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs page for GM?
18:28 <notlocalhorst> i will if i have a document
18:28 @<henne> Beineri you edit it quite a lot
18:28 @<henne> can you cover for aj?
18:28 * Beineri hides
18:29 @<henne> oh well
18:29 @<henne> no one it seems
18:29 <bgerber> not good
18:29 <bgerber> It really should be updated for the release
18:30 @<henne> so you will do it? :)
18:30 <bgerber> If I knew what to put on it?
18:30 @<henne> scan bugzilla for 10.2
18:31 <Beineri> bgerber: there are no annoying bugs (at least yet) :-)
18:31 <apokryphos> check critical/blockers
18:31 <bgerber> It will have to be later as I have to do my paying work
18:31 @<henne> okay i take this to the -project list
18:31 @<henne> any more questions?
18:31 <apokryphos> I understand that for most releases these days a live+install DVD is mastered. I know releasing this might not be a great idea because of strain on the mirrors, but how about releasing via torrent?
18:32 <Beineri> there is no live+install dvd, the live dvd is not installable (except something changed there for 10.2)
18:32 @<henne> notlocalhorst thats your pet project or?
18:32 <notlocalhorst> but there will be a promo-dvd, which is live and install
18:32 <apokryphos> I know there isn't one yet, but for i.e. 10.1 there was one, right?
18:32 <apokryphos> yes, the promo dvd
18:32 <notlocalhorst> but so far we never had it for download, inly pressed DVDs ... i will talk with michl about that
18:33 @<henne> okay
18:33 @<henne> any more questions?
18:33 @<henne> or topics we should discuss?
18:33 @<henne> ah we forgot
18:33 <Beineri> henne: nothing new with the mailing lists? ;-)
18:33 <apokryphos> notlocalhorst: cool, thanks
18:34 @<henne> we want to be able to plan a little bit where we are going to represent openSUSE next year
18:34 @<henne> so if you have a suggestion which fair/trade show/meeting we should hit tell us on opensuse-project
18:34 @<henne> Beineri: nothing that isnt announced :)
18:34 <Beineri> henne: is the wiki page updated?
18:35 @<henne> no
18:35 <Beineri> AI henne? :-)
18:35 @<henne> okay thats it i guess
18:35 * bill-barriere vote for, openSUSE Linux Drunk Tour 2007
18:35 @<henne> Beineri: will do
18:35 <apokryphos> the entries on suse.com still aren't updated :/
18:35 <apokryphos> guess no-one got round to it
18:36 @<henne> apokryphos: you mean the mailinglist page?
18:36 <apokryphos> yeah
18:36 @<henne> apokryphos: ive reported it. the webmasters are busy boys
18:36 <apokryphos> ok
18:36 @<henne> anything else?
18:36 <bgerber> So the main opensuse page will be update by 13:00 CET 07Dec06 to reflect release.
18:37 <bgerber> Then I should edit the most annoning bugs
18:37 <bgerber> using bugs.opensuse.org
18:37 <bgerber> as above
18:37 @<henne> well if you find very annoying bugs just put them in the list
18:37 <Beineri> bgerber: can be done before - if there are such bugs :-)
18:38 @<henne> Beineri says 10.2 is bugfree so...
18:38 @<henne> 8)
18:38 * Beineri feels to be misquoted :-)
18:38 <bgerber> From the factory I am using I would say yes too.
18:38 <notlocalhorst> so assign all bugs to Beineri ....
18:38 @<henne> so any other questions/topics?
18:39 <notlocalhorst> i got no nikolaus present today ... why???
18:39 @<henne> okay
18:39 @<henne> Thank you all for participating. The next Status Meeting will be at 2006/12/20. Same time, same channel
