Libzypp/CLI

From openSUSE

libzypp Command Line Interface

Currently, only rug provides a command line interface to libzypp.

This page tries to list the most wanted (or most hated :-) ) features a libzypp based cli implementation should (not) have. I.e. compared to rug, smart, whatever ...

Usability

  • The main thing I like in y2pmsh is that it's faster and snappier than

yast (ok the refreshing of the package sources still takes a bit too long, but that can be turned off) and doesn't try to open full screen windows.

  • I would actually prefer if it was only command line options, not interactive

commands, but both works for me.

  • What I don't like with rug is the always running daemon, the questionable security

concept and in general that it still has far more bugs than y2pmsh.

Commands

sourcedefine the sources on the command line
searchlook for an package by substring
iscbasically yast -i ... without the full screen stuff and a bit faster.
upgrade(rarely but i could do without that too)
