Keytouch

From openSUSE

Geeko KeyTouch is a program which allows you to easily configure the extra function keys of your keyboard. This means that you can define, for every individual function key, what to do if it is pressed.

How to set up Keytouch

It's recommended to download Keytouch from the Packman repository. After the installation start Keytouch. You'll get the following screen: Image:keytouchStart.jpg

If you can find your laptop model on the list it would be good idea to select that one, otherwise select some laptop model with Fn keys - Easy to find out, just search for the laptop's name (example: HP keyboard configurations are also working for MSI models). So at the Keyboard screen hit the Change button. You'll get a dialog, like this one: Image:KeytouchSelectkbd-1.jpg

Select one keyboard model and hit OK. After you'll get the Key settings screen. Image:KeytouchConfigurekbd.jpg

Click to Apply, and test your keyboard. Make sure that your keyboard extra keys are working. If they have all wanted functions you don't need to change the Key settings, leave everything on Default. Plugins are not necessary - if you want Volume +/- keys to work in a music player (example Amarok) you don't need to download any Amarok plugin - AMixer will do the work for you.

Troubleshooting

If you selected a keyboard where all extra function keys are working it can still happen that other keys like NumLock, CapsLock won't work. In this case change your default keyboard configuration in Sax2 either to your keyboard model or to a Generic configuration. Image:Sax2KbdConfig.jpg
