Status Reports

• 11.2 Milestone 4 (on way to mirrors) still has KDE 4.3 rc1, KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop has KDE 4.3 rc3
• KDE4.3 final tagging is now scheduled for 28th, with release on 4th August

Show Space Information

• about showing free space indicator in Dolphin's statusbar by default
• we will use upstream default (not enabled by default)

Package And Evaluate Automounter

• there is also plasmoid-devicemanager in Community
• AI: get recommendation from rabauke tomorrow (wstephenson)

Evaluate KDE/Ideas/11.2

• AI: figure out what all needs to be done for translations for 11.2 (llunak)
• we will ship stable Digikam release, not the latest beta
• trash icon/plasmoid in default install
  • we will not add it to more places than upstream
• shortcuts for multimedia keys out of the box
  • AI: add missing multimedia key assignments to bug #524734 (everyone)
• printer-applet
  • AI: process printer-applet inclusion (Beineri)

Default Web Browser

• current situation is that on the desktop there is a Firefox icon, in the panel there is a Konqueror icon and the default browser is Konqueror
• Konqueror/KHTML has problems rendering some pages
• WebKit-based KPart for Konqueror is usable, but not sufficiently developed for becoming the default for 11.2, further development requires Qt4.6, which will not be released in time for 11.2
• Firefox has poor KDE integration, Qt-based Firefox still nowhere in sight
• Arora is Qt-only with no real KDE integration planned
• some distributions such as Mandriva default to Firefox for KDE
• we will make Firefox the default for 11.2, Konqueror will be installed too, and release notes, greeter, etc. will include instructions on how to switch the default back to Konqueror
• for upgrades from 11.1 the default will not be changed if possible
• for the openSUSE release after 11.2 we will consider making Konqueror/WebKit the default
• AI: change browser defaults to firefox for 11.2 (llunak)

11.2 Deadlines

• July 31st is a version and feature freeze for the base system, including KDE
• if there are still packages that should be in Factory, they need to be proposed for KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop first in order to enter Factory
