Basics

• Make it very easy and automatic for the user to send useful crash reports. For example, at the first crash of an application, try to install the -debug package from the repository. Then, at the next crash, generate the report and just ask the user "Send" "Don't send". Nothing more, the user should not be expected to perform a more complicated procedure. Packages in the UNSTABLE repositories should include -debug packages by default. This was WIP for 11.1, but was not completed for final release.
• Include KMPlayer. KMPlayer supports using Phonon instead of MPlayer, doesn't this make it possible to include it in the distro? ..and thus greatly improve multimedia capabilities, especially of Konqueror. (kmplayer in KDE:KDE4:Community)
• Ipod ready application with distro... or which ever mp3 player

Branding

• DONE fix Geeko to appear in active window title again
• NOT BROKEN IN KDE 4.3 fix branding button to appear in Kickoff start menu again
• DONE Special development splash screen text with pointers to Bugzilla, openFATE, ...

Configuration

• Contextual desktop: Enable Nepomuk by default (?)
• Akonadi: install/run Akonadi by default (?)

• KHotkeys/input-actions preconfigured for multimedia-buttons (start media, start mail etc.)

Web Browser

• Default to WebKit instead of khtml (?) (kde4-webkitpart in Factory and KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop)
• Don't install Konqueror by default (?) (if Firefox is installed by default) - What about the sysinfo KIO slave etc? Joban 20:00, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
• Investigate the suitability of Arora as default web browser (arora in Factory:Contrib and KDE:KDE4:Community)
• what is the status of firefox-qt? - last public commit august 2008 =/, wouldn't put any hope in it for 11.2
• Firefox icon on default panel (?)

• A simple/intuitive way of adding "custom" plasma shortcuts to the panel or desktop. (shortcuts for items which don't already exist in kickoff/classic menu) -- and a drag icon to panel too add it feature, like other operating systems.
• Dolphin/konq service menu for selecting wallpapers (right click image -> Use as wallpaper)
• A right click mouse feature that opens the Terminal in which ever folder the gui is pointed to, like there is in Nautilis, without having to go through "Run Command" features.

Packaging Issues

  • In 11.2 users will likely need a few KDE3 applications still (see above). Therefore it would be convenient to be able to install kcontrol to configure certain things in KDE3 like look and feel, file associations etc. - without having to install KDE3 versions of konq, kwrite, kate and the numerous other things in the kdebase3 package, that you _don't_ need. Or will kcontrol be part of kdebase3-runtime? (cb400f)
• Add proper obsoletes/provides for KDE3->KDE4 update for 11.1->11.2 update
• DONE Introduce kdebase4-runtime-branding-FOOs (for desktoptheme/default/widgets/branding.svgz)
