Locating a repository
Open http://download.opensuse.org/repositories in your browser and find the repository you want to install from (if the repository is for example KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop, you need to go to http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop). Now select the build repository (distribution) that matches your system (so if you run for example openSUSE 11.1, enter openSUSE_11.1).
Installing using One Click Install
If a repository offers One Click Install, there are one or several files with .ymp extension shown in the repository. Click on the .ymp file and proceed with installation.
Adding a repository for installation (and installing from it)
See Add_Package_Repositories_to_YaST. Start the YaST2 module Software Repositories. Click Add, make sure Specify URL... is selected and click Next. Enter a name for the repository and enter the URL for the repository (you can copy&paste from the browser location bar). Click Next and, after the repository is successfully addded, click Ok. After this, you may be asked to import the GPG key the repository is signed with, check the key and then select Import. Now you have added the repository.
With the repository added, start the YaST2 module Software Management and you may normally work with the packages from the repository like with packages that have been included with the distribution. You can search for the package name, click on it to select it and install it. If you want to see all packages in a specific repository, set the Filter combobox to Repositories. If you want to update all packages in a repository to their newest version, right-click in the package list for the repository on any package and select All in This List/Update if newer version available.
Installing a single package from a repository, without adding the repository
In the browser window showing the repository for your system, enter i586 if you run 32bit openSUSE version or 'x86_64 if you run 64bit openSUSE version (note that packages that do not depend on whether your system is 32bit or 64bit are in noarch). Find the .rpm package you wish to install and click on it, a dialog asking whether to save or install the file will appear. Select installation and proceed with installing the package.
Note that if the package has dependencies on other packages from the repository, you either first need to manually install those dependencies or you should add the repository to allow the installation to resolve the dependencies automatically.
