Include Takashi Iwai's "audiophile" repository in your PM

Takashi has built a rpm with firmware files for MidiSport 1x1, 2x2, 4x4 and 8x8, and corresponding udev rules.

The repo base URL is here.

Add this, with appended OS version (10.2 for JAD <= 1.0, but available for openSUSE 10.1 and later) to your preferred package manager, in the same way as described in our main tutorial for the openSUSE base repo. For smart with GUI, The easiest is to "use repo description from URL" and supply the URL for the .repo file found there.

In a terminal, for JAD this would do the job:

 smart channel --add http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/audio/openSUSE_10.2/multimedia:audio.repo

Install midisport-firmware

Tha package depends on fxload, so of course say yes to that as well,:

 smart install midisport-firmware

Replug your midisport and the firmware should load.

The other packages found in this repo are also well worth a look. High quality builds, partly unique, partly software also found in packman.
