AMILO Si263610.3 OSSImage:22px-Tick.png Has a onboard graphics card which is not recognized by XGL, but nevertheless all the desktop effects work in Gnome (like rotating and zooming the cube)Image:22px-Tick.png The sound is ok, but a drawback is when using the laptop as a mp3-player with closed lid - gnome locks the desktop, and sound control buttons on the laptop stop workingImage:22px-Tick.pngImage:22px-Tick.png the wireless works ok from command line, but using network manager was pure hell. This bug in Gnome should be re-opened, but also provides a solution: [1]. But for a fresh install, NetworkManager doesnt work. Didnt try yet. STD and STR work. Powersave doesnt work for some reason: even when changing profiles and settings from command line, boths CPU's are still running in Mode 0 (which is the fastest). No frequency stepping happens. Have to go deeper into this.Webcam: the standard driver which is chosen for the webcam doesnt work, not even with the newest kernel, not even when compiling it from the repository. Have to dig into this more, the webcam manufacturer is Bison. CUPS: had to instal hplip drivers to install the printer (Hp Photosmart c3100). Didnt work out of the box. Works quite well, stuff like no frequency stepping and not working webcam can be survived, but it is a shame that the networkmanager configuration bug has still not been repaired. User:gnd
AMILO M3438G10.1 / 10.2 OSSImage:22px-Tick.png nVIDIA closed-source drivers are available at nvidia.comImage:22px-Tick.png volume wheel is not working yet (see bug [2]). Add model=z71v to snd-dha-intel options in /etc/modprobe.d/sound, it's the closest device for this laptopImage:22px-Tick.pngImage:22px-Tick.png don't forget to install ipw-firmware rpm from non-oss USB sticks work wellImage:22px-Tick.png STD and STR work well, even with nVIDIA's 3D driverPower management notes: CPU/GPU fan is always on! Please see bug [3]. Multimedia keys work if you choose "A4Tech KB-21" keyboard in xkb/KDE switcher. SD/MMC/MS card reader works well (it's USB-connected device, no extra drivers needed). Internal modem is smartlink one, but it doesn't work without non-oss smartlink kernel module (in ALSA mode), because there's no ALSA module for it. snd-intel8x0m doesn't handle this chipset (82801FB)Everything works as expected except fan, volume control and modem in ALSA mode.
