GNOME Updater Applet/Update Process on the Desktop/On Package Updates

From openSUSE

As already mentioned, package updates is the most requested feature for the updater. Most, if not all, 3rd party installation sources don't offer patches, but only packages updates.

It's still my opinion that these will be disabled by default. They can either be enabled in the preferences or we might activate them automatically as soon as someone adds such a software source.

Either way, those updates fall into the class of recommended updates and the user will be informed in the preferences about this fact (or the next run of the updater, if we decide to enable package updates automatically).
