This is a braindump and planning area for ideas that are not quite ready for the TODO file. Please add ideas for the GNOME updater applet here. If one starts working on a certain idea on this page, please add a point to the TODO list.

Activity-Popup

A Banshee-like popup that will replace the tooltip for the tray icon.

Benefits:

• Less distraction than an open window
• User gets most important information by moving the cursor over the tray icon; no clicking required.

This will give us the chance to change the default behavoir of the updater, to minimize the review&confirm dialog to the tray.

NOTE: The separation of the download and apply processes is currently just a wish. To have somthing like this, we need changes to the way libzypp handles the installation of packages/patches/... .
