GNOME/Community/Policy

This page contains the draft policy for what packages should be considered for inclusion in the GNOME:Community repository.
- A package could be made available for a specific distribution once a newer version is available that adds functionality (bug fixes should be made available through the distribution's update repository)
- An exception is if the package requires significant updates to packages it depends on. In which case, consider packaging parallel-installable newer versions of the dependencies?
- Avoid forking. If a package is being maintained for older versions of a distribution, rebase to the latest distribution (or Factory) packaging as soon as appropriate
- Once a package is available in Factory, do not build a version for it in G:C
