DONE <kl_eisbaer> Jippy :_) <anubisg1> it compiles perfectly <anubisg1> questions ? ;) <kl_eisbaer> not for that one :-) <anubisg1> 3rd ) Check dependencies of the Education-DVD for 11.0 (all packages should be installable using just the openSUSE 11.0 DVD and no online repository) <kl_eisbaer> => http://www.opensuse-education.org/mantis/view.php?id=79 <anubisg1> exactly <anubisg1> me and lars are working on it <anubisg1> please use bug #79 to track missing dependencies if you faound <kl_eisbaer> Looks like we need additional builds to get this fixed - but that's nothing that can't be done. <anubisg1> kl_eisbaer : you are fixing that, feel free to talk <kl_eisbaer> anubisg1: what should I say here - work in progress... <kl_eisbaer> should be fixed with RC1 next week <kl_eisbaer> ...which brings us to your last AI... :-) <anubisg1> perfect <anubisg1> questions? <kl_eisbaer> Yep: http://en.opensuse.org/Education/Development/Edu-CD/Roadmap <anubisg1> is 4th ppint <kl_eisbaer> The SLE10 Roadmap should also be updated <anubisg1> 4th) Update the Roadmap for the Edu-DVD <anubisg1> as kl_eisbaer linked you can see i upgraded suse 11.0 edu-dvd roadmap <anubisg1> please check MILESTONES and tell me if you agree with them <kl_eisbaer> I'm fine with the 11.0 Roadmap - so if nobody has critical issues, openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 11.0 will be released end of this month <cyberorg> great :) <anubisg1> DATES ARE NOTE DEADLINES but could be changed if somebody have better ideas <The_Code> fine <kl_eisbaer> last time to update packages is next Monday <anubisg1> an rc2 could be added if needed <anubisg1> and as lars told that milesotne on RC1 is a MUST <anubisg1> Milestone: package freezing, mo more packages added <anubisg1> to have a GOOD addon <anubisg1> are you agree? <kl_eisbaer> anubisg1: absolutely <kl_eisbaer> Just one point left: I think we should release SLE10 in october <anubisg1> about SLES/D roadmap..i din't know that.. added on my to do list to upgrade SLE 10 roadmap <anubisg1> questions ? <kl_eisbaer> Means: GM for SLE10 around 30.october <anubisg1> perfectly <anubisg1> GM for SLE or SLE SERVICE PACK2 ? <kl_eisbaer> and next SLE10 snapshot on 2.October <anubisg1> well have to go now.. bye ;) see you later... hope to came back before meeting end--- <kl_eisbaer> the main problem would be to get all dependend packages build for SLE10 <anubisg1> bye <kl_eisbaer> anubisg1: bye <kl_eisbaer> anyone who has other ideas for SLE10 ? <kl_eisbaer> Otherwise I like to take over to cyberorg to tell us about the LTSP status <suseROCKs> What efforts have you made/plan to make for marketing/getting the word out about the release? <kl_eisbaer> suseROCKs: currently not many.... <suseROCKs> /me mulls over ways to help the effort get the word out... <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, are we going to release installable DVD? <kl_eisbaer> Same as for the 10.2 release: write announcements on news.o.o and mailinglists <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: hm... ;-) <cyberorg> we can base it on kde3/4 or gnome live CD <kl_eisbaer> I think the first release on 25. sept would be a "clean" add on <kl_eisbaer> but we can release an installable DVD afterwards <cyberorg> ok <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: LTSP ? <cyberorg> updated all packages <suseROCKs> /me starts an early draft blog article about the efforts here... <cyberorg> latest stuff is getting browser plugin available on the server in local app <cyberorg> fully automatic /etc/sysconfig/kiwi-ltsp generation <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: BTW: I've updated the start-ica script now <cyberorg> so user just have to review it and not think about what goes where <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, i'll have to test it if it still works with ltsp :) <kl_eisbaer> only thing left to check is if you really need the 11000+x ports <cyberorg> yes we do need those <kl_eisbaer> but this can now be handled via YaST :-) => just set the values in /etc/sysconfig/ica <cyberorg> new video showing how easy it is to get ltsp on opensuse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCDfnImh67E <kl_eisbaer> This can also be done by kiwi-ltsp-setup I think <kl_eisbaer> YES - we need more videos like this one :-) <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, yes users can either use kiwi-ltsp-setup command or easy-ltsp <cyberorg> easy-ltsp has new artwork, artist is sitting right here with me, says hi to all <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: hi artist :-) <The_Code> cyberorg, say a big thank you to the artist <kl_eisbaer> the image looks great <cyberorg> Biswajyoti is his name <cyberorg> if you need any such things done, he will be happy to oblige <cyberorg> he also designed KIWI-LTSP logo <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: brings me to a new idea.... is the current openSUSE-Education logo ok ? <The_Code> he can send me an e-mail with nick or realname and an email address, so i can add him to artwork in about section <cyberorg> new ltsp addon CD is also available http://forgeftp.novell.com/kiwi-ltsp/iso <cyberorg> The_Code, ok <The_Code> kl_eisbaer, it would be cool to have one with color <kl_eisbaer> The_Code: yes - but _which_ color .... <kl_eisbaer> green? blue? <cyberorg> not related to ltsp, this hackweek i worked on getting OLPC's sugar interface on openSUSE, it was successful week <kl_eisbaer> I like the idea to have different colors for the different openSUSE projects <The_Code> kl_eisbaer, both good colors <The_Code> so blue <kl_eisbaer> like grey for build.o.o green for wiki.o.o ... <The_Code> users is blue <kl_eisbaer> The_Code: but we can say that users.o.o is no project :-) <The_Code> sure <kl_eisbaer> http://opensuse-community.org/ is also blue <cyberorg> thats all from me :) <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: so can you ask Biswajyoti if he can add a color gradient to our Logo? <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, k <kl_eisbaer> ok - so next one... Jasuit ? <kl_eisbaer> or just me :-) <cyberorg> just you, sleducator seem to be very busy for a long time :) <kl_eisbaer> I was a bit busy with OBS scripting and internal nagios work - so not much to say here... <kl_eisbaer> gambas, wxMaxima and maxima updated <kl_eisbaer> first step of italc review done <kl_eisbaer> server upgrade: done <kl_eisbaer> kl_eisbaer hopes everyone can reach the server now <The_Code> i can <kl_eisbaer> my ISP told me that they've updated their network settings - looks like they've misleadingly changed some routings <kl_eisbaer> but this should be fixed now <kl_eisbaer> ...and also SVN is up and working again - failure in my brain not to check the whole apache config files.... <kl_eisbaer> but the downtime also shows that openSUSE-Education is better known as I think :-) <kl_eisbaer> the whitespace problem in the Applications Template is still not fixed: no time to look at it, sorry <kl_eisbaer> but the sync script which syncs the packages from OBS to build the repo and ISO images uses the official rsync.opensuse.org server now <kl_eisbaer> but the check for duplicated packages is still needed :-( <kl_eisbaer> Some noarch packages for example are build twice as nobody disabled the build for x86_64 <kl_eisbaer> other packages are there in two versions - which is a bug on OBS side - but there's currently no time to investigate the problem <kl_eisbaer> But the last Beta2 ISO looks good from my side: no more duplicated packages <kl_eisbaer> questions ? <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, where did wvstreams-devel deps for italc come from? <cyberorg> i'll check noarch building twice <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: this was the first result of my italc review - looks like italc uses parts of the wvstreams libs if available for the network traffic <kl_eisbaer> any other questions? <kl_eisbaer> Otherwise I like to hand over to The_Code... <The_Code> ok <The_Code> user page is wip, i made a small one, and working on content for the real one <The_Code> Team wiki now has my name on it :) <The_Code> i fixed some bugs with the file handling in easy-ltsp, will update the packages tomorrow <The_Code> first experimental debs are in my home project, thanks to mjung for helping <The_Code> i will add them to server:ltsp <The_Code> during hackweek i hacked with jdsn on edu-users yast module <The_Code> screens are on my blog <kl_eisbaer> The_Code: URL, please :-) <The_Code> http://www.luckylemon.de/?p=42 <kl_eisbaer> thanks <The_Code> we would like to have it in edu svn repo, so that i am also able to commit to it :) <kl_eisbaer> The_Code: you should already have commit rights, don't you? <The_Code> in edu repo? <kl_eisbaer> yes <The_Code> what is my username there? <kl_eisbaer> The_Code: the same as on opensuse-education.org <The_Code> ok i will try it <kl_eisbaer> => svn co https://svn.linux-schulserver.de/repos/oss-edu <kl_eisbaer> just create a new directory under "packages" and start :-) <The_Code> good, will do it later tonight <kl_eisbaer> thanks <kl_eisbaer> anyone else ?
Status of the wiki pages
<kl_eisbaer> Otherwise next Topic: "Status of the wiki pages" <kl_eisbaer> anyone here who's added/changed wiki pages? <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, small changes/additions to many pages on http://en.opensuse.org/Category:LTSP <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: ok, thanks <kkirill> I've propopspal for Education:Desktop Applications, IMHO it should be like https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Games <kkirill> new layout is unusable <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: hm: I liked the old layout of http://en.opensuse.org/Education/Applications/Desktop <kl_eisbaer> but James want's to improve it as discussed in the wiki <kl_eisbaer> äh s/wiki/mailinglist/ <cyberorg> tables are not good for wiki maintainers <The_Code> yes tables are not really good to mantain <kl_eisbaer> perhaps it's time to discuss this again in the mailinglist as James is currently not available <kkirill> we have just add icons, but not new columns <kl_eisbaer> Fro me at least the "Ages" columns can be dropped <kl_eisbaer> what about the other columns? <kl_eisbaer> Package name => must have <kl_eisbaer> Description => must have ? <kl_eisbaer> Homepage => ? <kl_eisbaer> Remark => ? <kl_eisbaer> Gnome/KDE => ? <kl_eisbaer> Pattern => ? <kl_eisbaer> I think all packages listed on the page are already available and visible in the patterns <kl_eisbaer> and people who like to install a single package find it, too <kl_eisbaer> but I'm fine if someone tells me that the columns are needed <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: so please can you write a mail to the mailinglist and point us to the fedora page? <kkirill> yes, I can <kl_eisbaer> As told in the mailinglist already, currently I'm more a fan of "Categories" like http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Education_Applications <kl_eisbaer> We can create sub-categories like http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Education_Art <kl_eisbaer> but this is something we need to discuss on the mailinglist and with the wiki team <kl_eisbaer> ok - any other questions?
Status Edu-DVD for 11.0
<kl_eisbaer> Otherwise: next topic: "Status Edu-DVD for 11.0 " <kl_eisbaer> Currently the "main problem" with Beta2a seems to be the missing dependencies <kl_eisbaer> But: there's still an old bug open and not resolved: <kl_eisbaer> http://www.opensuse-education.org/mantis/view.php?id=66 <kl_eisbaer> If nobody else likes to try the KDE apps under GNOME, I'll test it with RC1 <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: any news about http://www.opensuse-education.org/mantis/view.php?id=67 (Atomix: Main window does not repaint during play) ? <kkirill> I'm investigating the problem <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, autodetection in italc is fubured <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: fubured ? <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: thanks <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, ica did not auto start on the client <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: to include your question: https://svn.linux-schulserver.de/viewvc/packages/opensuse-education-docu/trunk/opensuse-education-docu/books/en/README?view=markup <kkirill> imho, atomix package should be removed in final build if it would not be fixed, for now no info http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542263 <kl_eisbaer> Do you think we should include this README in the openSUSE Wiki ? <cyberorg> start-ica: line 123 syntax error <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: can you file a bugreport, please? <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: ok - can you remind me on time bevore GM is out ? :-) <kkirill> yes, of course <kl_eisbaer> thanks. <kkirill> kl_eisbaer: README for book should be updated for openSUSE 11, and it isn't working for me <kkirill> I cannot build color-pdf, it gives a lot of errors <kl_eisbaer> kkirill: ok - could you send me the output, please ? <kkirill> I'll send you it tonight <kl_eisbaer> thanks <kl_eisbaer> any other questions about the Edu-DVD ? <kl_eisbaer> Ha! <kl_eisbaer> Welcome m4r3k - our R-Project packager! <kl_eisbaer> Marek: should we add the R-Project packages to the Edu-DVD? <kl_eisbaer> /me currently don't know if we've enough space on it <kl_eisbaer> m4r3k: can you send us a list of the most important R-Packages? <m4r3k> kl_eisbaer: maybe later... <kl_eisbaer> So if there's just a little space, we can just put those important packages on the media <kl_eisbaer> m4r3k: yes, please send the list to the mailinglist - perhaps other people there want additional packages <kl_eisbaer> other questions / remarks ?
Status Wishlist
<kl_eisbaer> Next topic: "Status Wishlist" <kl_eisbaer> ATutor looks good in my eyes - but I'm not shure if we get it on 11.0 <kl_eisbaer> Ifolder Server - is interesting <kl_eisbaer> But I'm not shure if schools really need it <kl_eisbaer> JFractionLab, LenMus, LogiSim are the next ones on my personal "like to have" list <kl_eisbaer> if anybody here like to "rate" other packages on http://en.opensuse.org/Wishlist_Education - please "ping" me or the mailinglist :-) <kl_eisbaer> can we proceed with the next topic?
Education as part of the new Contrib Repository?
<kl_eisbaer> ok - just doing it: "Education as part of the new Contrib Repository? " <kl_eisbaer> There's an ongoing discussion on the factory mailinglist about an Contrib repository for openSUSE <kl_eisbaer> http://en.opensuse.org/Contrib <kl_eisbaer> The question from my side is: is somebody here interested to get "our" packages in this global community repository? <kl_eisbaer> Note: we currently have around 200 "main" packages in the Education repository <kl_eisbaer> the contrib repo currently contains 0 <cyberorg> kl_eisbaer, http://www.opensuse-education.org/mantis/view.php?id=81 <kl_eisbaer> cyberorg: thanks :-/ <kl_eisbaer> I think we should delay this question until the final rules for the contrib are out.
