Education Add-on Roadmap

Here are the current milestones for the Education Add-on. As this add-on should be available for all current openSUSE releases, We plan different Roadmaps for each of them. As all packages are already build in the Build Service, we hopefully just need to adapt the specfiles and patterns.

openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 11.1

Beta1, 2008-11-16

• Most things should work
• Work on documentation starts

Beta2, 2008-11-30

• First documentation ready for proofreading
• first branding packages available

RC1, 2008-12-13

• Only showstopper and security bugfixes get integrated
• no more new packages!
• Documentation ready

GM, 2008-12-20

• Final release to the public

openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 11.0 is released (Gold)

• Released on 2008-09-26

openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 10.3 is released (Gold)

• Released on 2008-06-18

openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 10.2 is released (Gold)

• Released on 2007-12-25

openSUSE-Education 1.0 for 10.1 / SLE10

RC1, 2008-11-16

• Milestone: All blocker bugs resolved.

RC2, 2008-11-30

• Only showstopper and security bugfixes get integrated.

GM, 2008-12-13 (internal)

• Only showstopper and security bugfixes get integrated.

PublicRelease, 2008-12-14

• Release on the ftp server to the public

Next Goals

Our next big goals are:

• translation of the package descriptions (wip)
• the new YaST-Modules for education (wip)
• better integrated Kioskmodes
• a fully installable DVD
• Create and describe additional software-packages for servers in educational environments.
• Integrate LTSP into openSUSE (done)
• Provide Autoinstallation and Client-Imaging tools like AutoYaST or others.
