What: cleaning up old bugs

Preparation

  • Prepare installations of the older products, its best to duplicate the bug on the older platform so you can be more confident of duplicating it, you could use Xen or VirtualBox

Why: it will make life easier

  1. Close irrelevant bugs in order to make it easier to find relevant bugs.
  2. Draw attention to bugs which are still relevant.

How: Review workflow

  • Bug in NEEDINFO state but has a response
    • Remove NEEDINFO flag
    • Continue to triage the bug
  • Bug in NEEDINFO state for someone outside the openSUSE developer community for more than 4 weeks
    • Close as NORESPONSE openSUSE can be resolved FIXED with a note indicating they are fixed for SLED 11, next bug
    • Include a message that states "No reply in more than 4 weeks. Please reopen if you are able to provide the requested information"
    • Move to next bug
  • Bug is severity major, normal, minor, enhancement and is fixed in the latest openSUSE releas
    • Close bug as RESOLVED/FIXED with a comment detailing what product it is fixed in
    • Please verify you can replicate the bug on the original distro it was reported as well, if you can't replicate on the original distro or openSUSE 10.3, please try and get more information with a NEEDINFO
    • Move to next bug
  • Bug is of severity major, normal, minor, enhancement and in a package no longer shipped in current openSUSE releases
    • Close bug as RESOLVED/WONTFIX
    • Move to next bug
  • Bug is how something works by design, is not coherent enough, etc
    • Close bug as RESOLVED/INVALID
    • Move to next bug
  • Bugs which are still valid should be moved to the openSUSE 11.0 product
    • Please mark the OS field in bugzilla with the original distro the bug was found in
    • Move to next bug
