S.u.S.E. Linux 4.4 was released in early 1997. It was the third release of S.u.S.E. Linux. It was preceded by S.u.S.E. Linux 4.3 and succeeded by S.u.S.E. Linux 5.0. Version 4.4.1 (released on April 24, 1997 [1]) was the first release of S.u.S.E. Linux to be available in English just after S.u.S.E. started their business in the U.S. Interestingly, S.u.S.E. Linux 4.4 had a tenure of only 2 months, the shortest of all S.u.S.E. releases.

Some software included with it was:

  • Linux kernel 2.0.29
  • DOS Emulator 0.64.4
  • GCC 2.7.2.1
  • XFree86 3.2A
