Improved Installation
openSUSE has enjoyed an easy to use installer for quite some time, but in openSUSE 11.0, the number of steps required to install openSUSE have been reduced dramatically, and the look of the installer is much nicer! You can choose between the live CDs, which let you test drive openSUSE with the desktop of your choice, then perform a basic and simple installation of the system to your computer; or you can choose the DVD (including the Retail Box DVD), which lets you install any software or desktop environment you like.

Easier and faster software management
Installing software on openSUSE has never been so fast or easy. You can continue to use openSUSE's 1-Click Install to install applications, plus the speed of the software manager is much faster! openSUSE offers free updates to your openSUSE computer for 2 years following the release of your version. In 11.0, installing updates is even easier with the new updater. It's simple enough with only a few clicks and only seconds of your time, openSUSE can install the updates; and powerful enough so you can see descriptions of what the updates are and select or deselect ones for installation.[edit]
Desktop Effects
Functional and beautiful. That's openSUSE 11.0 thanks to our desktop effects. Using the Desktop Effects application in the control center, you can turn on or off the effects and easily change settings. By default, openSUSE 11.0 is set up with the desktop effects that make your system look nice without bogging it down or distracting you from your work.==
